The Motus Foundation team – Magdalena Morzy, Olena Davydok, Joanna Kniter, and Andrzej Urbaś – took part in the three-day programme organised in Gdynia as part of the final phase of the Blue Supply Chains (BSC) project. The events were held in connection with the Baltic Ports for Climate Conference, hosted by the Port of Gdynia Authority and the Baltic Ports Organisation (BPO).
19 November – Welco
me Reception
The programme began with an evening reception at Browar Port Gdynia, organised by the Baltic Ports Organisation. This informal gathering offered a valuable opportunity for partners to reconnect, exchange updates ahead of the conference and mark the beginning of the final BSC activities.
20 November – Baltic Ports for Climate Conference
The central day of the programme took place at the Port of Gdynia Concert Hall, where the Baltic Ports for Climate event gathered representatives from ports, industry, research institutions and European cooperation networks.
Motus Foundation participated in the full conference programme, which addressed urgent themes such as port decarbonisation, the adoption of Onshore Power Supply (OPS), clean fuel deployment, energy transition challenges, climate policy updates and the operational transformation required across the maritime logistics sector.
Within this framework, the host Blue Supply Chains of the Final Conference Session presented project results and demonstrated how Blue Supply Chains has contributed to accelerating the shift toward greener port operations in the Baltic Sea Region. The session included presentations on: the electrification of port handling equipment, development of green energy supply roadmaps, the use of inland waterways to reduce road emissions, strengthening intermodal connections, and regional cooperation for sustainable transport corridors.
These topics are closely aligned with the mission of Motus Foundation and reflect key trends shaping maritime and port sustainability across Europe.
Study Visits – Port of Gdynia
Following the conference, project partners took part in an evening study visit organised by the Port of Gdynia Authority:
-
At the Gdynia Container Terminal (GCT), participants were guided through the terminal areas and had the opportunity to observe the retrofitted RTG crane — a key BSC pilot — operating during live container handling.
-
The visit continued at the Gdynia Ferry Terminal, where a rooftop vantage point provided an overview of passenger and ro-ro operations, as well as contextual information about the port layout and adjacent naval infrastructure.
The study visits offered practical insight into how modernisation and sustainability investments are taking shape in the Port of Gdynia.
21 November – Final Blue Supply Chains Partner Meeting
The final day of the programme was dedicated to the All-Partner Meeting, held at the Port of Gdynia Authority. Partners presented their concluding results, reviewed lessons learned and discussed how the project’s outputs will continue to be applied after its formal end.
The meeting provided space to consolidate the project’s achievements, evaluate remaining tasks and reflect on the strong collaborative effort built across the Baltic Sea Region.
