Hamburg, Green Ports, and What We Brought to the Table

On 19–20 May 2026, Motus Foundation took part in a two-day DigiTechPort2030 event in Hamburg, organised alongside the TOC Europe Conference — one of the leading international gatherings dedicated to ports, terminals, logistics, and digital transformation in the maritime sector.

On the first day, Bogdan Ołdakowski represented the Foundation at the project’s promotional stand at the Baltic Transport Journal booth during TOC Europe at Hamburg Messe. Ahead of the event, Motus Foundation prepared and supplied the printed project factsheets distributed at the stand throughout the day — materials designed to communicate DigiTechPort2030’s key goals and results to a broad international audience of port professionals, technology providers, and industry decision-makers.

Beyond the stand, the conference programme itself proved highly relevant to our work within the project. Sessions explored port digitalisation benchmarks, the practical value of terminal automation, the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence in port operations, data-driven performance strategies, and cybersecurity — all topics that intersect directly with DigiTechPort2030’s focus on the green and digital transition of small and medium-sized ports in the South Baltic region. The event also created a natural opportunity for networking and for strengthening the project’s visibility among stakeholders active in maritime innovation and sustainability.

The second day shifted to internal project work, with the full consortium gathering at Akquinet’s headquarters in Hamburg for the DigiTechPort2030 partner meeting. Bogdan Ołdakowski attended in person, while Joanna Kniter joined remotely to present Motus Foundation’s planned contributions and solutions for the project’s next phase — focusing DigiTechPort2030 TOC in Hamburgon how technical pilot results can be translated into accessible outputs for external stakeholders, ports, and regional authorities.

The meeting covered overall project progress, the updated implementation timeline ahead of the expected prolongation period, and work package sessions on electrification showcases and dissemination activities. As part of the broader consortium discussion, partners also exchanged views on communication strategy, agreeing that future dissemination should place stronger emphasis on practical pilot outcomes, lessons learned, and the transferability of project solutions to other ports in the region.

Motus Foundation remains actively engaged across DigiTechPort2030’s communication and dissemination workstream, with several outputs in preparation for the coming months.
