Just yesterday and on the 14th of June, the Connect2SmallPorts project held a final conference in Gdynia along with the TransportWeek’22 conference.
The first day of the event was dedicated to project accomplishments. The project’s partners gave several presentations on project tools such as DRIP measuring ports digital readiness, port pilots actions, and presenting digital projects already implemented in the Baltic seaports.
The guest speaker Marcin Kaźmierski of HydroBIM company presented digital twin applications for the maritime sector. At the conference, there was also a possibility to receive the recently accomplished and printed Connect2SmallPorts final report titled 'Applying Smart Transport Tools for Small and Medium-Sized Ports’. The report is available under this link in PDF form to all interested parties.
On 15th June there was the launching of the DigiTechPort, a seed money project. It aims to build on the achievements of Connect2SmallPorts. Hence, the Connect2SmallPorts project is initiating the pathway to institutionalize the DigiTechPort initiative as an Excellence Centre for Digitalisation, Internationalisation, and Transfer of Key Technologies in Small and Medium-Sized Ports. The Excellence Centre will serve as a contact point for smaller ports to overcome their challenges in becoming sustainable and more competitive through digital and green transition processes.
To start working on the idea of an excellence center the workshop moderated by Monika Klein has taken place. The participants worked in two groups discussing possible ways how to apply smart ideas to port clients and within the maritime sector environment.
