DeCoInter Visit to the Port of Valencia: Innovation and Sustainability in Practice

On 25 November, Motus Foundation was pleased to be represented by our colleague Magdalena Morzy during the DeCoInter study visit to the Port of Valencia, Europe’s 4th busiest container port. The visit offered valuable insight into how large-scale port operations can successfully align with innovation and ambitious climate goals.

Participants learned about the port’s strategic roadmap toward zero emissions by 2030, with presentations highlighting digitalisation, smart infrastructure, new mobility systems, and green corridors. A key focus was the port’s energy transition, including clean hydrogen projects and on-site hydrogen storage and refuelling facilities.

The technical tour of the terminals and South Breakwater showcased Valencia’s scale, efficiency, and forward-looking development, making this an inspiring and highly relevant experience for the DeCoInter partnership.
