DeCoInter Project Launched at Kick-Off Meeting in Gdańsk

February 7, 2025 – The DeCoInter project, officially titled „Decarbonization of Maritime Sector and its Impact on Green Energy Transition,” successfully commenced with its kick-off meeting on February 5-6, 2025, hosted at the Marshal’s Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Gdańsk, Poland. This milestone event brought together representatives from all partner organizations to align on objectives and plan the path forward.

Funded by the Interreg South Baltic Programme 2021-2027, DeCoInter aims to accelerate the decarbonization of the maritime sector by promoting renewable energy sources and alternative fuels, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions across South Baltic ports. The project supports the European Green Deal’s ambitions for a sustainable, climate-neutral future by 2050.

The DeCoInter consortium comprises a diverse group of leading organizations committed to sustainable maritime innovation:

  • The Association of Polish Regions of Baltic Adriatic Transport Corridor (Lead Partner)
  • Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority S.A.
  • Klaipeda Science and Technology Park
  • Gdynia Maritime University
  • Motus Foundation
  • Blekinge Institute of Technology
  • Port of Roenne A/S
  • CPL Competence in Ports and Logistics GmbH
  • Klaipeda State Seaport Authority

Over the next three years, the consortium will collaborate to develop strategic tools, test green energy solutions, and foster regional cooperation to transform South Baltic ports into green energy hubs. Further details on project activities and outcomes will be shared as they become available.

Stay tuned for updates on our progress in advancing sustainable maritime practices and decarbonization efforts.
